We are a small Squadron based close to the centre of Pencoed. Despite our small size, we try and get involved in as many activities as possible.
We were formed in 1964, and celebrated our 50th anniversary in 2014 by receiving the freedom of Pencoed and parading through the town.
Over the years, Cadets from the squadron have flown in a Merlin helicopter, attended annual camps in the UK and abroad, been climbing, and helped raise funds for different charities. This is in addition to following the Air Cadets syllabus which covers many subjects from the principles of flight, aircraft navigation, propulsion, the RAF and many others.
You can join 2426 (Pencoed) Squadron as a Cadet if you over 12 years of age and in year 8 at school. You can join when you are 13, regardless of your school year. You can’t join after your 17th birthday. You may be able to become a member of adult staff, though.
